Hello Douglas
First of all, thank you for having the honesty and courtesy to post your IELTS results on the blog - no one else took the trouble to do so...
Alas, hard work does not always bring its just rewards, does it?
A band 6.0 overall is an excellent score, however I know that you expected more.
As for your scores:
Listening: you did very well and are capable of a band 7.0
Reading: this is your level - 5.5
Writing: you gave me two writing tasks which were up to the standard of a band 7.0, most of your other pieces were between 5 / 6. I also warned you about your illegible handwriting (when under pressure?)... Again, you are have the ability and talent to achieve a 7.0 in writing.
Speaking: you know that band 6.0 is your standard
So, where does this leave us? Basically, you should sit back and learn from this experience. It appears that Listening/Writing offer you the best chance of getting two band 7.0 scores. A band 7.0 overall seems out of reach.
I have 'retired' from IELTS teaching at the British Council for the immediate future. My real job and family need my attention.
At least Douglas made the effort to inform me of his IELTS results. He is upset and disappointed. It must come as a great letdown after all that hard work and sacrifice.
Where are the rest of you????
You can see why I have given up IELTS teaching for a while...
Eid Mubarek to all our readers and Merry Christmas / Happy New Year!
Tony
BTW, should we close down this blog?
