Hello?

Hmmmm, about twenty people are listed on this weblog as 'contributors' but are contributing nothing, indeed some have not even posted or commented once!

Apart from the stalwarts, Khawla, Firas, Ahmed, Maha and Hamda, the rest of you seem lost in your own worlds and endeavours. That is perfectly understandable, I have just had a torrid time in February where I was admitted to hospital three times, culminating in surgery on Thursday 28 Feb to remove some tissue that was obstructing my urethra. All is well now and I feel great, but have to take things easy.

So, what is the way forward for this blog? I am unlikely to resume teaching at the BC in the forseeable future, which is your gain. However most of you seem indifferent to contacting me, so quite frankly, I wonder why we bother keeping this pretence of a 'community' when only a handful of blog members take the trouble to keep in touch.

The lovely thing is when we hear good news from IELTS candidates and the fact that some people, albeit very few, appreciate this forum.

Standing by to hear from you, recent comments and non-postings have been very disappointing. Eh bien, c'est la vie, n'est-ce pas?

Bye for now!

Happy Mother's Day (in Britain at least!)

Tony

Dear Mr. Tony,

I want to congratulate you for your recovery and wish you good health alwyas. I feel sad on behalf of all the students who want to take the IELTS course and will not have you as their teacher and captain as you alwyas say. The truth is I am not exagerating here but I am appreciating your enthusiasm and the way you put pressure on people and push them to achieve good results. I like the way you teach even though some times it is very hard to take for busy people like us.

I wish that there are more people like you who consider teaching is a mission and not a job then we certainly would have a better world.

I salute you and all the IETLS blogger who still communicate.

Regards to Khawala, Firas, Ahmad and everybody.

Regards,
Maha Hanna

Hello Maha

Wonderful to hear from you, my dear! Thank you, as ever, for your kind words and support of the blog.

Yes, maybe I used to put a lot of pressure on my students, as they know that I pushed myself hard as well. But hey, 'no pain, no gain' as they say!

Indeed, the 'gold standard' students, such as your lovely self, Khawla, Firas and Ahmad make this blog worthwhile. Out of respect to you all, and admiration for your IELTS achievements, then I shall keep this blog going for the forseeable future.

I'm getting lots of rest and not doing much besides my morning work in the military (which is more than enough in its own right).

The BC want me back, but my health, family and full-time job are more important. They would laugh at me, with my whistle, stopwatch and yellow/red cards - but it got the message across that I cared and was not some 'fascist teacher from Hell'!

Each IELTS course was unique and rewarding in different ways. Let's remember the good times and inspire the silent readers to 'hang on in there' and not give up. Who knows, Maha, we might even hear from some of the reluctant contributors - In Sha Allah with good IELTS news!

Bye for now, God bless and Happy Easter for 23 March (I love chocolate Easter eggs and see chocolate as an essential part of my post-operation convalescence)!

Tony
